Privacy
Last updated October 29, 2026. Covers Mimo for iPhone and iPad, the Mimo app for Mac and Windows, and the Mimo browser extension for Chrome and Edge.
Everything stays on your device unless you sign in to sync Mimo between your Mac and PC. Mimo has no analytics and no tracking, and it never sells or shares anything about you.
Mimo for iPhone and iPad has no server and no account. The only thing it ever sends is your name and your cat’s look, and only to the friends you invite when you do a mode together over SharePlay. It never sees which apps you use or what you do in them.
The browser extension never sends what you browse anywhere. It only asks the Mimo app, on your own computer, whether you’re focusing right now.
Mimo for iPhone and iPad
What it keeps, and where
Your Presence Modes and their settings, the moments you spend in them (which mode, when, for how long, and how it felt if you say), Mimo’s XP, Sparks, things and nature, and your settings. All of it lives in one database inside the app on your iPhone or iPad, and it’s excluded from iCloud backup. A small copy of what’s running now is shared with Mimo’s widgets, Live Activity and Screen Time extensions on the same device so they can show it. Nothing leaves your device, except what you choose to share with friends in a mode together (below).
Screen Time
If you turn on Screen Time access, you choose what each mode quiets in Apple’s own app picker. iOS gives Mimo only opaque tokens for your choices, so Mimo can show how many apps you picked, never which ones. Mimo asks iOS to shield those apps while a mode runs and to lift the shield when it ends. Mimo never receives your app usage, screen time, browsing, messages or anything you do in other apps.
What it sends over the internet
Nothing to us. Mimo has no server and never contacts one. Notifications, widgets and the Live Activity are all created on your device. If you’ve chosen in iOS Settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may share anonymous crash reports with us; that’s Apple’s setting, and you can turn it off.
Doing a mode together
If you choose “Do it together”, Mimo uses Apple’s SharePlay to put your friends’ cats in one room. Only the people in that SharePlay receive what the room needs: the name you choose for friends, your cat’s look (age, nature, colours), the mode’s name and length, and whether you started, ended early or finished. Apple carries it end-to-end encrypted, and Mimo never receives or stores it. It never includes your apps, Screen Time choices, history, XP or location. Your Mimo remembers your friends’ names on the moments you did together. If you never use it, nothing is sent at all.
What it never does
- No account, sign-in, analytics, tracking, advertising or in-app purchases.
- It doesn’t collect app usage, website addresses, screenshots, keystrokes, contacts, photos or location.
Your choices
- Clear your moments in Mimo › Settings › Clear moments (Mimo keeps its XP).
- Turn off Screen Time access in iOS Settings › Screen Time › Apps with Screen Time Access. Your modes keep working as reminders.
- Delete the app to remove everything Mimo stored on your iPhone.
The Mimo app for Mac and Windows
What it keeps, and where
Your focus sessions (length, times, and the task names you type), Mimo’s XP and growth, your settings, and, if you use Mimo Pro, your clients, projects, tasks and invoices. All of it lives in one database file in Mimo’s folder on your computer. It never leaves your computer unless you export it yourself or sign in to sync (below).
What it sends over the internet
An update check. Mimo asks GitHub whether a newer version of Mimo exists. The request contains nothing about you or your use of Mimo. You can turn it off in Settings › Privacy & data.
Optional account and sync
If you sign in (Settings › Account & sync), Mimo keeps a copy of your focus sessions, your cats with their XP, growth, toys and album, a few work settings (breaks, blocked sites, Mimo Pro on or off), and your Mimo Pro clients, projects, tasks, invoices and business details in your account, so your other computers show the same Mimo. Signing in needs only your email address: we email you a one-time code. The copy is stored with Supabase, our database provider, and only your account can read it. Which cat keeps you company, where it sits, your display, sounds and alerts stay on each computer. Sign out at any time and your data stays on your computer; Delete account removes the account and its copy.
What it never does
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising. An account is optional and used only for sync.
- It doesn’t look at your other apps, your keystrokes, your screen or your browsing.
The Mimo browser extension
The extension keeps the sites you choose closed while a Mimo focus session is running, and shows Mimo’s page instead. It works only together with the Mimo app.
What it looks at
When a tab opens a page, the extension compares the site’s address with your block list, right there in your browser. Addresses aren’t recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
What it sends
Only a question to the Mimo app on your own computer (http://127.0.0.1, which never leaves your machine): “Is a focus session running, and which sites are on the list?” The question carries nothing about the page you opened. The app answers with your block list, whether you’re focusing, and when your session ends, plus your task name and your cat’s look so the blocked page can show them.
What it stores
A copy of your block list for up to a minute, and any “Open anyway for 5 minutes” passes. Both are kept in your browser’s session storage and are cleared when the browser closes.
Why it asks for each permission
The extension runs no code from the internet, shows no ads, and doesn’t sell, transfer or use any data for purposes other than blocking the sites you chose.
Your choices
- Turn site blocking off in Mimo › Settings › Blocked sites, or remove the extension from your browser at any time.
- Export everything, clear old history, or delete all of Mimo’s data in Settings › Privacy & data.
- Uninstalling Mimo leaves its data folder in place so you don’t lose your cat by accident. Delete that folder to remove everything.
